How to Build a Washer Tub Fire Pit?

Below is the list of materials and tools you will need to build this fire pit;

. Washer tub – I found one at the scrap yard for $8
5. Metal cutting blade with saw – I used a circular saw and took make metal cutting blades for them, I also used a jig saw
6. Metal file
7. 4′ x 8′ sheet of wire mesh – I got mine on the garden section at Lowe’s
8. 1 1/2 inch self tapping screws
10. 3/4 inch wood screws
11. 1/4 inch x 1 3/4 inch long metal strapping – I found this at akins hardware but any hardware store will have this
12. 1/2 inch galvanized pipe – get enough for the pit and 8 to carry the fire pit to your desired location (I used 20 pieces of 10′ pipe)
13. Teflon tape – for seal the pipe fittings
14. 1/2 inch prop valve – for the propane hookup
15. BBQ – get whatever you want to burn, I used Red cedar branches that I picked up from my sisters yard.
16. Metal legs bit, I used a 1/4 inch bit
17. Soapy water – for marking straight on
To assemble the fire pit you will first need to cut the 4 1/2 inch strapping into 4 pieces that are all 8 inches long,
Next cut the tub top and away half. I also cut a small section out of the side so allow for a normal access of air for the propane hookup.

Once you have completed your cuts you can then drill the holes and mount the strapping to the washer tub. I used 1/4 inch self tapping screws to attach the hardware. Next this point you might want to dis some leather gloves because the strapping has some sharp edges.

I then tookr my 4′ by 8′ wire mesh down around the washer tub and then cut my 1/2 inch self tapping screw to attach it to the strapping.

Then 1/2 inch PVC pipe comes in 10′ sections, so you will need to saw it into smaller pieces. I then marked and drilled my holes to attach the tub rails to the bottom of the washer tub. I used Teflon tape on all the connections between the pipe and the strapping.

Once you have assembled the pipes to the tub you will need to mount the end cap. Depending by marking and drilling the holes in the end cap. Then take holes in the side tub then will match up the end cap’s. you can screw the end cap onto the ends pipes. You might want to trim a little off the side pipes to get everything to line up as I was able to get all of sections of the pipe to fit and my washer tub.

Once you have your the end cap you can attach the propane valve and hoses for feed the burner ring. I started able to get all this mounted onto the end cap with The propane company should be a certified installer come out and hook up the gas. and the valve.

The next step is to lay out the fire pit foundation in your yard and then place the tubane tank in the bottom of the pit, that way is can’t be seen when I’m also going to add some more stone around the fire pit to give it a more finished look. Once you follow these steps you will be able to build yourself a fire fire pit for around $100 without
