1. Plug in the power cord for the washing machine to the first outlet box. Turn the faucet handles to both the hot and cold positions. Place the washing machine leveling legs in the raised position. Use a wire stripper to expose 1/2 inch of bare copper wire on the end of the metal strap. Attach a 8-gauge green ground wire from the grounding cable in the outlet box to the metal strap with the grounding lug.
3. Move the washing machine into position next to the outlet box. Run the hot and neutral wires on the power cord to the corresponding hot and neutral wires in the outlet box. Wrap the hot wire from the outlet box to the hot wire on the power cord with a wire connector nut. Repeat this step for the neutral wires. Connect the green ground wire from the washing machine to the green ground wire in the outlet box with a wire connector nut.
