How to Diagnose a Bad Dryer Pulley Wheel
A noisy dryer can be an excellent reason to finally buy a new appliance, however before the dryer, is noisy your own may have an easy fix. One of the most common reason for a noisy dryer is worn out dryer bearings. These bearings are found on the rear drum support rollers. You will need to remove the roller and replace it with a new one before reassembling the dryer.
There are some other reasons that make your dryer noisy. Remove the dryer belt and try to rotate the drum by hand. If the drum is hard to turn or doesn’t rotate freely, check the rollers and axles. If they don’t spin freely, replace them. When the dryer belt is loose, it can slip and cause squeaking sounds. Tighten the belt to solve the problem. When the belt is damaged, replace it.
How to Replace Your Dryer Belt Pulley Wheel
There are several steps to changing a dryer belt pulley wheel. This part may vary slightly depending on the exact make and model of your dryer. There are two types of pulley wheels on a dryer: the drive pulley and the idler pulley. The idler pulley wheel is behind the main dryer drum. The drive pulley wheel is located on the front of the dryer and is used to rotate the dryer drum.
To access the pulley wheel, you will need to remove the top of the dryer. To do this, open the lid of the dryer. There will be two or three screws holding the lid in place. Remove these screws with a screwdriver and put them someplace safe.
Next, unscrew the lint filter cover and There will be one screw holding this in place. Remove the cover and put the screw in a safe place. The lint filter cover will be attached to the top by a plastic retainer clip. Remove this clip by gently pulling it out of the slot on the top of the dryer.
