If your dryer is not heating up like it should, it may be time to check the dryer ntc sensor. This sensor is responsible for detecting the temperature of the dryer drum and communicating that information to the control panel. If the sensor is not working properly, it may be giving the control panel the wrong information, which could cause the dryer to not heat up at all.

How to Test Your Dryer’s NTC Thermistor Sensor?
If your dryer isn’t delivering heated air, it may be because the thermostats are defective. The thermostats also to the cabinet with a couple of screws. To remove the screws, use the 1/4-inch nut driver from your owner’s manual. Then remove the thermostat from the housing.
Test the thermostat by inserting a screwdriver into the hole beside the wiring harness. Set your multimeter to RX1 and measure resistance between the C1 and C2 terminals. Repeat the screwdriver into the other hole beside the wiring harness. Set your multimeter to RX1 and measure resistance between the C1 and C3 terminals.
Check the thermostat for zero resistance between the C1 and C3 terminals. If it reads zero, the thermostat is defective. If it reads infinity, the thermostat is open. The the leads from the thermostat and reinstall the thermostat. Press the dryer to determine if the problem is solved.
If your still don’t have hot air, you’ll need to test the thermal fuse. You can test the thermal fuse using your multimeter. Again, disconnectplug the dryer before attempting this test.
Test the continuity of the thermal fuse by setting your multimeter to RX1. The thermal fuse should have zero continuity. Replace the thermal fuse if it doesn’t.
Your dryer may not be getting hot because of a damaged high-limit thermostat. The high-limit thermostat is located on the side of the heating element inside. Remove the thermostat from the housing with a flat-blade screwdriver.
Set your multimeter to RX1 and touch the leads to the terminals of the high-limit thermostat. Place the thermostat is working, the meter will display infinity. If not get a reading of zero, replace the high-limit thermostat. This the leads before reinstattaching the high-limit thermostat.
The thermal limiter on your dryer is a safety device designed to stop the flow of electricity if the dryer overheats. If the thermal limiter gets damaged, the dryer won’t heat up.
Remove the cover for the vent of your dryer. Remove the high-limit thermostat by inserting a flat-blade screwdriver into the slots beside the thermostat. Pull the thermostat out of the heating element module. Test the thermostat with your multimeter. Replace the thermostat if it doesn’t display infinite resistance.
install the high-limit thermostat before closing the vent cover.
Causes of Your Dryer’s NTC Thermistor Sensor Not Working
A dryer uses a thermistor sensor to monitor the dryer’s internal temperature range and will adjustments to prevent the dryer from overheating. A failure in the thermistor sensor circuit can prevent the sensor from functioning, which will result in the dryer becoming overheated and cause fire hazard.
How to Replace Your Dryer’s NTC Thermistor Sensor
The NTC thermistor is the by your dryer to sense the temperature of the air coming into the dryer and the temperature of the exhaust air as it leaves the dryer. The NTC thermistor wiring sends a signal to the control board regulating the temperature within your dryer. The NTC thermistor is a non-resettable fuse and cannot be reset. Replacing the NTC thermistor on your dryer can be a pretty easy task that you can do yourself.
dryer ntc sensor Features
The NTC temperature sensor on your Whirlpool dryer reads the temperature inside the dryer drum. The sensor turns electrical current into resistance. which is measured as voltage. It works with the control board to turn the drum motor on and off at the temperature inside the drum reaches a certain point.
If your Whirlpool dryer isn’t heating, there are several possible causes of the problem. You should check the following components to ensure your dryer is heating properly:
1. The thermal fuse is a safety device that blows if the dryer overheats to prevent fires from starting inside the dryer drum. If the thermal fuse blows, you’ll need to change it to fix the dryer. You should also clean out the dryer vent before replacing the thermal fuse.
dryer ntc sensor Buying Guide
It can be easy to overlook this small part that But if a problem arises with it, it could require the user to spend money on a new appliance. It
The NTC thermistor is critical for Negative Temperature Coefficient thermistor. It is an electrical resistor that changes its resistance based on temperature. This temperature sensor is made of a plastic casing, plastic white in color, and has two leads out of it.
In the case of a dryer, the NTC thermistor’s used to measure the temperature and increase to adjust the internal operating temperature. This is done by limiting the amount of electricity that is to the element to heat it up.
Most modern dryers come with a thermal fuse that shuts off the element if it gets too hot. This will make the dryer stop working, long as the thermal fuse gets too hot, and it will need to be replaced.
In newer dryers, the thermistor is a component that will control the amount of electric power goes into the heating element. When these fail, they typically usually either not reading the correct temperature, or they are not sending the correct amount of electricity to control the heating element.
When checking the temperature sensor with a multimeter, there are usually 2 readings that will be needed. The first reading will be when check voltage goes the resistance. The second reading will be to check the voltage that
• though the NTC thermistor is just small, it can still cause major problems in a dryer. A faulty thermistor can prevent the dryer from getting hot enough to heat up or dry clothes at all.
If the thermistor fails, it will fail in one of two ways. It will either stop providing electricity to the element to heat it up, or it will be to send the electricity amount of electricity to control the heating element.
Cleaning the air vents is an important step in dryer maintenance. Whileents can are clogged with lint and debris will not allow air to flow freely and will prevent the dryer from heating up properly.
In addition to the thermistor, there are many other components in a dryer that can cause it to not heat up. A blown thermal fuse, failed high limit thermostat, failed operating thermostat, or failed timer motor could all be the cause of a failed thermistor.
Choosing the right thermistor for your dryer can be a difficult task, but it is one that should not be overlooked. By choosing the proper temperature sensor, your dryer, you can help extend the life of your appliance and avoid costly repairs.
In conclusion, the NTC thermistor is an important part of a dryer and should not be overlooked. By keeping it clean and in good working order, you can help ensure that your dryer functions properly for
